  • Q4Is MPMC an official OEM partner of the major engine brands?

    • Yes. MPMC is recognised as a Top G-OEM (Generator OEM) in China and has been the largest G-OEM by volume for Perkins and Stamford in recent years, while ranking among the top three G-OEMs for DCEC and Kubota.

Because MPMC is a generator set builder rather than an engine manufacturer, the customer selects the engine and alternator brand for each project. Engine and alternator warranty and global service follow the respective original manufacturer's terms and networks, which is a practical advantage for buyers operating in regions where a particular engine brand already has strong local service coverage.

Part BGenerator Set Selection

  • Q5What power range and enclosure types do MPMC generator sets cover?

    • MPMC diesel generator sets cover 9 kVA to 3,750 kVA across five enclosure types:

      TypeSeriesKey Feature
      Open typeOEStandard industrial application
      Economic typeSECost-optimised
Silent typeSR2Noise reduction of up to 35 dB(A)
Containerised typeSCHeat, corrosion and water resistant; ISO container format
Rental typeSR (AU / EU)Built to Australian and European rental standards

For the high-power containerised segment specifically, the range is 800-3,750 kVA on single-engine units, 1,250-3,000 kVA on twin-engine units, and 1,600 kVA on four-engine units - all available in diesel, gas, biofuel and methanol versions.

  • Q6Which engine and alternator brands can I choose?

    • Engine partner brands (powered by): PERKINS, CUMMINS, Kubota, MTU, SME, HD Hyundai Infracore, BAUDOUIN, SCANIA, SDEC and VOLVO.

Alternator partner brands (equipped with): STAMFORD and LEROY SOMER.

For the high-power containerised platform the documented combinations are:

      • 800-3,750 kVA single engine: CUMMINS, PERKINS, BAUDOUIN, MTU, SCANIA, SME, VOLVO or SDEC, with STAMFORD or LEROY SOMER alternators
      • 1,250-3,000 kVA twin engine: BAUDOUIN, SCANIA or PERKINS, with STAMFORD or LEROY SOMER alternators
      • 1,600 kVA four engine: SCANIA, with STAMFORD or LEROY SOMER alternators

Unlike suppliers tied to one or two engine brands, MPMC lets the customer select the engine on the same containerised platform - useful when a project specification, or the equipment already installed on site, is standardised on a particular engine brand.

  • Q7Which large containerised models are documented, and what are their ratings?

    • 50 Hz models (1,500 RPM), Cummins-powered:

The tables above are the Cummins-documented reference models. On the containerised platform as a whole, the documented engine options are CUMMINS, PERKINS, BAUDOUIN, MTU, SCANIA, SME, VOLVO and SDEC for single-engine units (800-3,750 kVA); BAUDOUIN, SCANIA and PERKINS for twin-engine units (1,250-3,000 kVA); and SCANIA for four-engine units (1,600 kVA) - all with STAMFORD or LEROY SOMER alternators. The exact model and rating available for each engine brand is confirmed per inquiry, so send MPMC your required power, frequency and fuel type for a configuration recommendation.

  • Q8What is the difference between the prime and standby ratings?

    • MPMC publishes both a prime and a standby rating for every model, in line with ISO 8528. The prime rating is the power available for continuous operation under a variable load for an unlimited number of hours - this is the figure to use when the generator set is the site's main power source, as in island power stations, mining camps and oilfield operations. The standby rating is the maximum power available under a variable load for a limited duration, and applies to emergency backup duty such as data centers and hospitals, where the set only runs during a mains outage.

As an example from the documented range, the MCLS1500(S)-1 is rated 1,500 kVA / 1,200 kW prime and 1,650 kVA / 1,320 kW standby. Sizing to the wrong rating is the most common cause of a set being under- or oversized, so tell MPMC whether the duty is prime, standby or continuous when you request a configuration.

A set that is oversized for its actual load spends most of its life below 30% load, where specific fuel consumption is worst. If your load profile has short high peaks over a low base load, ask about pairing the set with a battery energy storage system rather than moving up a frame size.

  • Q9Do you offer high-voltage generator sets?

    • Yes. The MCLS2000H(S)-1 delivers 2,000 kVA prime power at 10-11 kV, powered by a Cummins QSK50-G17 engine and equipped with a LEROY SOMER LSA 53.2 VL7 alternator.

High-voltage output enables direct HV distribution with reduced transmission losses over long cable runs - a decisive advantage on extended island layouts, large factory campuses and oilfield sites where loads are spread across a wide area. Documented HV deployments include a Middle East oilfield running 2 × 1,800 kW / 2,250 kVA HV units in 40HC containers (Perkins 4016-61TRG3 with LEROY SOMER LSA 53.2 XL11) and a 3 MW UAE data center at 6 kV (MTU 20V4000 G63LF with LEROY SOMER LSA 53.2 XL13).

  • Q10Do you build twin-engine and four-engine generator sets?

    • Yes. Multi-engine configurations let a single containerised unit reach a higher output than one engine can deliver, and allow part-load operation on fewer engines:

      • Twin-engine units: 1,250-3,000 kVA, powered by BAUDOUIN, SCANIA or PERKINS, equipped with STAMFORD or LEROY SOMER alternators
      • Four-engine units: 1,600 kVA, powered by SCANIA, equipped with STAMFORD or LEROY SOMER alternators

Both are built on the same containerised platform as the single-engine range and support the full fuel portfolio.

  • Q11Which fuel types do MPMC generator sets support?

    • Four fuel types are available on the same containerised platform:

      • Diesel - standard specification is ASTM D975 Grade 2D. HVO (EN 15940) and B20 biofuel blends are supported on Cummins models.
      • Natural gas - electricity efficiency of 38% or higher, with total energy utilisation efficiency of 80% or higher.
      • Methanol - documented model rated 400 kVA / 280 kW at 600 V / 346 V, 60 Hz, engine GS14M440HF-45, alternator LYG354C, noise 75 dB(A) at 1 m at 75% load, DEIF AGC150 controller with CAN bus communication and multi-protection.
      • Biofuel / biodiesel - B35 and above. The 18 MW Indonesia project runs 18 containerised 1 MW units on B35 biodiesel with Cummins KTA50-GS8 engines and Leroy-Somer LSA50.2 L8 alternators, lowering lifecycle CO₂ by up to 85% versus petroleum diesel and complying with RED II and RFS standards.
  • Q12Do you make generator sets for reefer containers and cold chain transport?

    • Yes. MPMC cold chain generator sets operate from -40°C to +50°C, with a seismic-resistant structural design and intelligent fuel-saving control. Compatible mounting options are clip-on, pin-mount, side-mount, bottom-mount and rear-mount, covering road and railway refrigerated transport, reefer backup at ports and yards, and cold chain logistics.

The largest documented deployment is the China-Laos-Thailand railway cold chain logistics project, where 1,243 units supply power to special cargo refrigerated containers throughout transit.

  • Q13What diesel light towers does MPMC offer?

    • MPMC diesel light towers are available with 7.2 m, 8.5 m and 9 m mast heights, LED or metal halide lamps, in manual, hydraulic-trailer and hydraulic variants.

For sites moving away from diesel-only lighting, MPMC also builds solar light towers (HSL Series, 12,000-24,100 m² coverage with GEL or LFP battery options) and the HBL X-Matrix hybrid system, in which one diesel-plus-battery main tower supports multiple battery-only sub towers. Details of the solar and hybrid ranges are on the MPMC new energy site at www.mpmc-group.com.

Part CTechnical & Performance

  • Q14What are the key electrical performance parameters and applicable standards?

      • Steady-state frequency stability: within ±0.25% at any constant load
      • Rated voltage regulation: ±1%
      • Applicable standards: ISO 8528-5:2018, GB/T 2820.5-2009, ISO 3046 and ISO 12944 (for containerised SC series corrosion protection)
      • Conformity: CE requirements met for containerised and silent types

Data center and other critical standby configurations are specified for one-step load acceptance per ISO 8528-5, with fast auto-mains-failure response through DSE or DEIF controllers.

  • Q15What are the maximum ambient temperature and altitude limits?

    • MPMC generator sets are designed for operation up to 50°C maximum ambient temperature, with high-temperature copper radiator options and optimised cooling systems for hot climates. Altitude derating follows the specification of the selected engine model, and typically begins above 1,000-1,525 m.

Documented hot-climate deployments include Iraq oilfield rental units with 50°C copper radiators, a Mexico stadium project with multi-rad 50°C copper radiators, and Philippines and Australia mining projects specified with 50°C copper radiators. Factory verification is carried out in a CNAS constant-temperature test room simulating 40°C and 50°C ambient conditions.

Send your site altitude, ambient temperature range and load profile with your inquiry so the derating calculation can be built into the configuration.

  • Q16How quiet are MPMC generator sets?

    • Noise depends on enclosure type and load point. Documented figures include:

      • SC containerised super-silent type: as low as 83.4 dB(A) at 1 m at 75% load (MCLS1250 SC); the SC range overall is documented from 75 to 91 dB(A) at 1 m at 75% load depending on model
      • OS open type: up to 98 dB(A) at 1 m at 75% load (MCLS2000 OS)
      • SR2 silent type: noise reduction of up to 35 dB(A)
      • Methanol generator set: 75 dB(A) at 1 m at 75% load
      • Project references: New Zealand commercial buildings, 20HC super-silent at 75 dB(A) at 7 m at 100% load; New Zealand hospital, 40HC super-silent at 85 dB(A) at 1 m at 100% load

Where local noise ordinances restrict generator operation during certain hours, a battery energy storage system can bridge the silent period - see the hybrid question in this section.

  • Q17What anti-corrosion protection is available?

    • Containerised enclosures are rated to ISO 12944 with C-3, C-4 and C-5 coating options. C-4 is the standard specification on most containerised units, with C-5 available for coastal, tropical, offshore and marine deployments - the Brazil offshore oil and gas project (10.28 MW, Cummins KTA50-G12 with Stamford S6L1D-H4) and the Mexico stadium project both use C-5 painting.

The coating process runs from sandblasting through powder coating, and sprayed products undergo 500-700 hours of salt spray testing twice per year, giving a minimum 3-year outdoor rust resistance.

  • Q18Can multiple generator sets run in parallel, and which controllers are used?

    • Yes. Multi-unit parallel operation with intelligent load sharing is standard on the large containerised range, using DSE or DEIF AGC controllers. This supports N+X redundancy, master-standby rotation and elimination of single-point failure risk, and can include parallel operation with the mains.

Documented control and switchgear configurations include:

      • DSE8610 + ABB 1,250A 3P motorised MCCB - New Zealand commercial buildings, 4 × 750 kVA
      • DSE8610 + ABB 3,200A 3P ACB - New Zealand hospital, 4 MW
      • DSE8620 + ABB 3,200A 3P ACB, parallel with mains - UAE factory power expansion, 4.2 MW
      • DSE8610MKI + CHINT breaker - Philippines mining, 1,575 kVA prime
      • DSE7320 / DSE7320MKII + ABB breaker - Iraq oilfield rental and Australia oilfield
      • DEIF AGC 150 - methanol generator sets and PCS-based hybrid models

For standby duty the recommended controllers are DSE 4520 MKII in AMF mode or DEIF AGC 150 for parallel synchronisation, with ABB or Schneider motorised circuit breakers.

  • Q19What configuration do you recommend for data center backup power?

    • Data centers demand absolute reliability, so the standby configuration prioritises one-step load acceptance per ISO 8528-5, very fast auto-mains-failure response, and multi-unit parallel synchronisation. The recommended configuration is:

      • Primary: 1-4 containerised diesel generator sets, 1,000-3,000 kVA per unit, powered by CUMMINS, PERKINS or MTU
      • Control: DSE 4520 MKII in AMF mode, or DEIF AGC 150 for parallel synchronisation
      • Anti-corrosion: C4 standard, C5 optional for coastal or tropical sites
      • Fuel tank: 6 h / 8 h / 12 h / 24 h built-in options, with bonded or external tank alternatives
      • Optional BESS integration: HBD-A 125 kW-1,125 kW with liquid cooling, IP54 system and IP67 battery pack, for peak shaving and millisecond UPS-level response

Documented projects include a 3 MW UAE data center (MTU 20V4000 G63LF with LEROY SOMER LSA 53.2 XL13, 50 Hz / 6 kV, multi-rad radiator, space heaters and anti-condensation heating, RTD temperature monitoring), a 12 MW UAE data center power station, and a 36 MW data center backup project in the United States.

  • Q20What safety features are available for oil and gas field deployments?

    • The documented Middle East oilfield HV island-mode system - 1 × 800 kW / 1,000 kVA backup unit in a 20GP container plus 2 × 1,800 kW / 2,250 kVA HV units in 40HC containers - includes the following safety architecture:

      • Dual-start explosion-proof system: primary compressed-air start, which is arc-free and inherently safe in hazardous zones, with an emergency electric start backup that eliminates single-mode starting failure risk
      • SF₆ gas-insulated VCB: superior arc quenching with an airtight design that prevents dust and sand ingress and reduces internal discharge risk
      • Neutral grounding resistor (NGR): suppresses transient overvoltage and protects generator windings and cables
      • Multi-dimensional fire detection: smoke sensors, temperature sensors and UV/IR flame detectors giving millisecond-level alarm response
      • Automatic CO₂ fire suppression: 2 × 45 kg system that does not damage HV electronics, triggering automatic emergency shutdown, ventilation louver closure and main switch disconnection

The power architecture uses HV direct supply into ring or radial distribution, with multi-unit parallel operation, load sharing and master-standby rotation under an N+X redundancy strategy. All units are designed per ISO 8528 for continuous operation with cooling optimised for 50°C+ ambient.

  • Q21Can a battery energy storage system be added to an existing generator set to cut fuel use?

    • Yes - this is what the HBD-R Series is designed for, and MPMC refers to it as the "Genset Mate". The BESS runs in parallel with the generator so the engine holds its optimal load point while the battery absorbs peaks, transient motor-start inrush and low-load periods.

      Documented results:

      • UK construction site: a 56 kW diesel generator was oversized for a 3-6 kW night load. Adding a 30 kW / 60 kWh HBD-R extended refuelling from every 2 days to every 7 days, and maintenance from every 10 days to every 60 days.
      • Dubai concrete batching plant: an HBD-500-1000 with 3 × 500 kVA gensets saved 254.13 litres of fuel per day (10.56%), around 92,757 litres and USD $70,496 per year per station, cut OPEX by roughly 20% and extended genset life by 2-3 years, with CAPEX payback on the hybrid premium in 2-3 years.
      • Product data: up to 75% fuel saving and up to 3× genset life extension in low-load scenarios.

The HBD-R is compatible with major genset controller brands including DSE, ComAp, DEIF, Woodward, Smartgen and CAT EMCP. Full details are on the MPMC new energy site at www.mpmc-group.com.

  • Q27What warranty applies to MPMC generator sets?

    • The whole-unit warranty for the diesel generator set series (LD, OE, OS, SR, SR2, SE, SC, SP, MCCG, MCCT and similar) is 1 year or 1,000 operating hours, whichever comes first, calculated from the date of delivery.

The engine, alternator and controller are covered by the warranty terms of their respective original manufacturers - PERKINS, CUMMINS, MTU, BAUDOUIN, SCANIA, SDEC, Kubota, HD Hyundai Infracore and SME for engines, STAMFORD and LEROY SOMER for alternators. Those terms can be found on each brand's official channels.

      Conditions and scope:

      • Warranty is transferable if the product is resold within the warranty period.
      • MPMC covers material costs and sea freight of replacement parts; labour, travel and air freight are not included unless otherwise agreed in the contract.
      • Warranty claims require the user to provide maintenance records as proof that the maintenance schedule has been followed.
      • Out-of-warranty repair services are available upon written request.

Not covered: faults caused by incorrect use, transportation or storage; damage from improper fuel, lubricant or coolant; environmental damage from extreme weather, contamination (dust, salt, chemicals), strong vibration or strong magnetic fields; operation beyond the conditions stated in the product manual; normal wear parts; unauthorised modification or third-party maintenance without MPMC approval; use of spare parts not approved by MPMC; and force majeure events such as war, natural disaster, power surge, lightning, flood and fire.

  • Q28How does after-sales service work for generator sets?

    • After-sales support for diesel generator sets leverages the global service networks of MPMC's engine and alternator partners - PERKINS, CUMMINS, MTU, BAUDOUIN, SCANIA, SDEC, Kubota, HD Hyundai Infracore and SME for engines, and STAMFORD and LEROY SOMER for alternators. Customers can access local authorised service centers worldwide through the respective brand's official channels, which is often faster than routing every issue back to the factory.

MPMC's own warranty obligation covers manufacturing quality and parts replacement during the warranty period, including material costs and sea freight of replacement parts.

MPMC also operates the self-developed SCADA cloud platform, which lets operators monitor unit location and running parameters, connect quickly to online engineers when a fault occurs, keep a complete running and maintenance record for each unit, and receive automatic maintenance reminders with recommended spare part lists.

  • Q29How do I contact MPMC for a quotation or technical support?

    • To get an accurate configuration on the first reply, include the required power and frequency, prime or standby duty, preferred engine brand if any, site altitude and ambient temperature range, fuel type, enclosure type and any noise or emission limits that apply.
