What Makes a Generator Set Manufacturer Suitable for Continuous Industrial Power Supply

Nov 06, 2026

Industries that generate their own power around the clock, such as mining, oil and gas, manufacturing and remote processing, need a generator set manufacturer that understands their load profiles as well as their engines. MPMC has delivered continuous industrial power across these sectors, configuring each system for the way the site actually runs, from motor-start surges at a mine to explosion-proof requirements on an oilfield.

Configurations by Industry

Mining

Mines combine continuous base load with heavy motor starts from crushers, conveyors and pumps. MPMC supplies containerised units with copper radiators for 50°C ambient and altitude derating calculated for each engine, and can pair them with HBD-R battery storage so the engines run at an efficient load point of around 75%. References include 5.2 MW in Australia, 3.793 MW in Peru and a 1.2 MW mining camp station in Côte d'Ivoire.

In a UK case using the same genset-plus-storage approach, refuelling stretched from every 2 days to every 7 days and maintenance from every 10 days to every 60 days.

Oil and Gas

Oilfield power needs redundancy and safety engineering. MPMC's Middle East high-voltage island-mode system uses N+X redundancy, air and electric dual start and automatic CO2 fire suppression, while an oil and gas field camp in Saudi Arabia is supplied by 3.3 MW of containerised Cummins KTA50-G3 generator sets with Leroy-Somer LSA 50.2 L7 alternators.

For rental supply, a 6.8 MW oilfield project in Iraq uses Perkins 4016TAG2A and 4016-61TRG3 engines with Leroy-Somer alternators, 50°C copper radiators and DSE7320 controllers with ABB breakers, and MPMC's containerised Cummins units supply 10.28 MW of offshore rental power in Brazil.

Manufacturing and Process Plants

Factories value generator sets that can run alongside the grid. MPMC's 4.2 MW MTU-powered factory expansion in the UAE runs in parallel with the mains for peak shaving and backup, and at ten off-grid concrete batching stations in Dubai, each HBD-500-1000 works with three 500 kVA gensets to cut OPEX by about 20%.

For plants that run production around the clock, MPMC's containerised range includes two-engine units from 1,250 kVA to 3,000 kVA, powered by Baudouin, Scania or Perkins engines with Stamford or Leroy-Somer alternators. Combined with MPMC's commercial and industrial battery storage, which handles peak shaving, load support and smoothing of load fluctuations, they keep supply steady while the generator sets run at efficient output.

Natural Gas for Combined Heat and Power

Where pipeline gas is available, MPMC's natural gas generator sets reach electrical efficiency of at least 38% and total energy utilisation of 80% or more when exhaust and jacket heat are recovered, making them attractive for factories and industrial parks with steady heat demand. Diesel, methanol and biofuel at B35 and above are available on the same containerised platform.

Sites moving towards lower emissions can also choose MPMC's 400 kVA methanol generator set, rated at 75 dB(A) at 1 m with a DEIF AGC150 controller, or biodiesel, which MPMC has proven at scale on its 18 MW B35 plant in Indonesia.

Why Industrial Buyers Choose MPMC

MPMC's Haimen smart factory specialises in high-end customised and mining-specific generator sets and continuous-operation power stations, with every unit load-tested from 0% to 110% in a CNAS-accredited test centre. Steady-state frequency within ±0.25% and voltage within ±1% protect process equipment, and engines from Cummins, Perkins, MTU, Baudouin, Scania and others are supported through their global service networks.

For each industrial project MPMC provides design consultation, product customisation, factory testing, logistics and commissioning support, and hybrid systems are supervised through its self-developed SCADA with remote monitoring and Starlink satellite backup for remote sites.
